F2026L00927 is the Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories - Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026. It amends the 2017 Approval Principles by removing approvals in principle and substituting two revised accreditation standards, the information communication and reporting standard and the in-house IVD standard.
The instrument was made on 3 July 2026 and registered on 6 July 2026. It changes the principles the Minister applies when approving, refusing, varying or revoking an approval of premises as an accredited pathology laboratory under section 23DN of the Health Insurance Act 1973. It does two things. First, it removes the in-principle approval from eight parent provisions, so that the approval process has one decision point. Second, it substitutes two entries in the Schedule 1 table of accreditation materials: the information, communication and reporting standard, from 13 July 2026, and the in-house IVD standard, from 1 July 2027. It also replaces the note that tells readers where the standards are published. It is a short instrument, and the difficulty is not its length but the two dates.
Is it a standalone regime?
No. It amends the 2017 Approval Principles and takes effect in that instrument. The compilation is the text to read after 13 July 2026.
Who made it?
Mary Warner, as delegate of the Minister for Health and Ageing, on 3 July 2026. It was registered on 6 July 2026.
Where this comes from
The register states each provision in our own words and cites the section or item. The dates page separates the two commencements. The official text is F2026L00927 on the Federal Register.
Not legal advice; does not certify. The standards themselves are separate documents and are not reproduced here.
