What it watches
The diff, not a newsletter.
The refresh script runs every day at 04:10 AEST on our server. It re-downloads the official text, the Explanatory Statement, the No. 4 correction and the Commission's standards page, normalises them and compares a hash and the extracted facts with the record: the commencement table, the item titles, the edition names and the dates. When something changes, we email every active subscriber the difference and the date.
- The instrument text and the commencement table
- A new compilation of the 2017 Principles
- A correction instrument, like the No. 4 correction
- The Explanatory Statement
- The Commission's pathology standards page and the edition it lists
- A recorded date when the record is re-dated

What it cannot do
It cannot report a change that the Federal Register has not published. It does not watch NATA's private decisions or a laboratory's own assessment dates. Ask NATA in writing which edition it will assess against.
Why the diff matters
The No. 4 instrument was made three days after the No. 3 instrument and commenced immediately after Part 1. A watch that only reads the parent compilation would have missed the correction. You want the change on the day, not in a quarterly summary.
